"One can't start a new life, but a new day, daily" (anonym)
It was the expanse and uninterrupted view of distant horizons in Graubunden where I was born and raised that to a large extent left their indelible mark on me. One can indeed also find that quality of view standing on the top of a four thousand metre peak, but foreign lands and cultures were even more fascinating to me. My life has been characterised by curiosity and the fascination of working with people and empowering them to recognise and exploit their potential. As a primary school teacher in a Graubunden mountain village, however, I couldn't hold out for long. Natural science studies in biology lead me to the university in Zurich and, after graduating, to the exotic world of the Zoological garden where I was in charge of visitor information and establishing and expanding services for teachers and pupils.
The line lying between two points is not always a straight one, and the crosshairs homed in on my career while working as a consultant for further education. Listening, analysing and developing solution-orientated concepts, schooling, training and implementation were at the centre of my on-going activities. Initially as a staff member then as a self-employed businessman I developed and implemented solutions for change management processes and information transfer of the most varied kind for small and medium-sized enterprises.
I gathered leadership and initial international and intercultural experience as vice-principal of an overseas Swiss school. Three years spent in Colombia kitted me out for new challenges in corporate human resources at a multinational concern with over 80,000 employees and a presence in more than 70 countries throughout the world. As Regional Coordinator for Management Development and Strategic HR, I was responsible at group level for international HR projects, succession planning at regional level and identifying and targeting development of middle and upper management in the Latin America region. In the function as counsellor, coach and point of contact for managing directors and personnel directors of group companies on the one hand, and the interface to the company management in matters concerning management development such as International Relocation, Development and Succession Planning.
I look forward to harnessing this accumulated experience to your benefit – each day afresh.
