«You can’t stop the waves but you can learn to surf.»
I completed my commercial education and training at a major Swiss Insurance company, thereby familiarizing myself with all aspects of insurance. Besides I gained valuable insights into the structural organization of a large company. To this day, I have fond memories of my third year as an apprentice, during which time I worked at Zurich airport as a junior underwriter responsible for insuring small aircrafts, such as piston aeroplanes, hot air balloons, air shows and many things more. On top of that, I learned how and why aeroplanes fly. Although I am not really keen on flying, aviation continues to fascinate me.
In my subsequent capacity as health insurance clerk I discovered the joy of educating commercial apprentices. Over time, I became more and more interested in learning about the professional side of education, which made me take up a job in administration at a career services company. My responsibilities included training apprentices for the jobs of the future as well as helping young adults during their traineeship. Working in training and development meant I was dealing with people on a day to day basis, who were busy focusing on their career planning. All of which had an inspirational influence on my personal development. Subsequently, I attended several extra-occupational trainings in the field of initial training and adult vocational education. My primary goal was not only to pass on knowledge, but to help people achieve their objectives. During my vocational training as management expert, with a Swiss Federal Diploma, I furthered my understanding of management skills.
I am an active person. Sport not only gives me the opportunity to push my physical boundaries – it also clears my head for new challenges and allows me to recharge my batteries. I discovered the saying, which is featured in the title, whilst learning how to surf. Both in sports and everyday life it reminds me that I can achieve anything, if only I am patient and I keep at it. Over time my running shoes have clocked up many miles, which just goes to show how much I enjoy being outdoors. So it comes as little surprise, that in winter I like gliding down the mountains on my snowboard or my skies.
I am excited to be joining Grass & Partner as office manager and look forward to welcoming you in Zurich.
