In the Wiler Nachrichten: Christian Bartholet on artificial intelligence in the workplace

What does artificial intelligence mean for the labour market – and for each individual? The Wiler Nachrichten put the question to our CEO Christian Bartholet on 24 September 2026. His assessment is already in the headline: nothing will be as it was before.
Christian Bartholet compares the upheaval with industrialisation – with two differences: this time it affects knowledge work, and the pace is considerably higher. He is confident in the long term but expects winners and losers. In the interview he explains which abilities count now, what he advises career starters and where companies and the state are called upon.
Key points
- Those who stay willing to learn and adapt, and who deliberately combine their experience with AI, benefit most – regardless of sector or profession.
- Career starters need a broad education, practical experience and AI skills; the linear career from start to finish no longer exists.
- Experience and contextual knowledge are the strength of older professionals. Those who also become AI-literate open up new possibilities.
- Skilled trades could be among the winners, but will not remain untouched by AI.
- Empathy, social skills, communication and creativity are what set people apart from AI in the long run.
- AI upskilling and individual job coaching are needed – a task for the state and for employers, especially for people who have dropped out of the labour market.
